One Difference Between INTP and ISTP

Unsure if you are INTP or ISTP? Take the INTP or ISTP Test here.

INTPs tend to be very intellectual, so they can always say something analytical about something that they’re asked, even if what they say has no personal backing to it. They also tend to doubt themselves and their personal experience.

ISTPs tend to rely very much on their personal experience and are the most self-contained of all the types. When S-types speak, they also tend to use a lot of details, so that the listener can reconstruct the experience for himself as fully as possibly. (“And then this happened, and then this happened, and then this happened…“). With the N types they are more interested in things that are true independently of the actual experience. So instead of saying: “And then this happened, and then this happened, and then this happened…” they will usually say: “This happened, and I think that what it shows is…” – They cut away the details and the personal experience in order to make points that are true in general.
